Our Mission
We are a supportive network of collaborators committed to expanding and deepening access to high-quality culturally responsive environmental education for every child across Whatcom County.
Together, we :

Increase equity and justice in environmental education programming and address barriers to delivery through knowledge and resource sharing, professional development, capacity building and kindness.

Develop clear pathways, roles and shared practices for partnerships with districts and schools to ensure all learners can participate in environmental education.

Support development of user-centric tools and resources to enable research and analysis, asset mapping, and data-supported decision making.
Our Vision
Every young person across Whatcom County experiences equitable, inclusive and culturally responsive environmental and sustainability education. Place-based learning is integrated with educational outcomes across grades. Educators inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and innovation, and connect experiences with the head and heart. Empowered youth have the knowledge and skills to be responsible stewards of our communities and our planet.

We acknowledge that we are living and working on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Lummi, Nooksack and other Coast Salish Peoples, the original inhabitants of what is now Washington’s northernmost coast and southern British Columbia. Since Time Immemorial, Coast Salish Peoples have lived in villages throughout this territory, practicing their way of life on the land and waterways and continue to have an ongoing relationship with these areas. We honor their ancestors as we acknowledge the past, present and future of all Coast Salish Peoples and express gratitude for their generosity in sharing the land as well as their knowledge, cultural values, and ways and friendship with all who came later.
